My mother was the BEST cook. I still think she made the best fried chicken and fried okra I have ever had. Green beans were another dish that was so good. She would always say that you had to cook them down.....that meant you cook them until there's no liquid. We don't have much patience today. Everything must be quick. These beans take about 45 minutes to "cook down" but it's so worth it. The recipe is simple so I hope you will try it.
I don’t use the sugar. I used bacon grease in the past but only oil now.

What size of canned green beans? I need more specific than just large cans.
Made these tonight for supper ❤ I first want to say thank you Mama Sue I know this is going to sound crazy but here it goes first bite brought me to tears. I have not had this taste for green beans in so many years when you say like your Grandmother made you told the truth straight from your heart to mine just like my Granny's so simple so easy so delicious and I will now start this tradition again in my home for my family, Thank you so much Mama Sue!!!! They look delicious! Just wondering how this would taste without the bacon grease? I rarely make bacon, so don’t have bacon grease.
