Sometimes you just need a little CHOCOLATE in your life. Today was one of those days for me. I wanted something but wasn't sure what. Something sweet is what I really wanted. It had to be something that didn't take much of my time. As I looked through a stack of recipes I found where I had written this recipe sent by a sweet follower on Facebook Messenger. I had copied it but failed to put her name. (I am so sorry I can't give credit). She had written that her family makes a Devil's Food Cake and adds vanilla ice cream. This Hot Fudge Sauce goes on top of the ice cream. Can you imagine all the yumminess? (Is that even a word?) There was no time to make a cake but I knew that I could use this recipe like Chocolate Gravy on a biscuit. It did not disappoint. It makes a quart and I poured it in a quart jar and placed it in my refrigerator. Harold has already put some over ice cream. I know you will love it.


  • 2 cups sugar

  • 1 large can of Evaporated milk

  • 1/2 tsp. salt

  • 1 tsp. vanilla

  • 12 oz. bag Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips

  • 1/2 stick butter

  • 2 TBS. cocoa

  1. Mix sugar, milk, salt & vanilla together.

  2. Mix well and cook 10 minutes in microwave STIRRING EVERY 2 MINUTES.

  3. After 10 minutes add the Chocolate chips, butter, & cocoa.

  4. Stir until smooth.

Watch very carefully while in the microwave because it may boil over. Also, when you remove it to add the Chocolate chips, butter, and cocoa BE CAREFUL because it might boil over.
